How to test connectivity to Evertek using PING

1. Click on the "Start" button and click on the "run" command.

If you are running Windows 95, 98, or ME, type "command" in the open prompt.
If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, type "cmd" in the open prompt.

Windows 95, 98, & ME

Windows 2000 & XP

This will open up a DOS prompt screen.

Although you can ping any server on the internet, we recommend that you ping your Default Gateway.
You can find the address of your default gateway on the same screens you find your MAC Address.
NOTE: If you are using a cable modem router to connect multiple machines to the internet, you will not find a valid Default Gateway to ping using this process.

2. At the DOS prompt, type in the following line:
ping -t "default gateway"
For example, if your default gateway was 192.168.55.254, you would type in
ping -t 192.168.55.254

Hit the enter key.
This will ping one of our servers and report back the latency or if any data packets are being dropped.

When you have run the program for the desired length (the longer, the more accurate results you will obtain), press the "ctrl" and "c" keys to stop the process.

The overall results of the ping times will be displayed, listing the minimum, average, and maximum values as well as any packet loss.
You may see something similar to the following screen.

3. After you have looked at your results, type "exit" and hit the "enter" key to close out the DOS prompt.
